Input Output and Things in Between @ UdK
In October 2006 we repeated the workshop concept with five eager students and Professor Kora Kimpel in the digital class at UdK.
Instead of using plastic cubes like in the sydney workshop we produced foldable cardboard cubes with the wonderful lasercutter. This gave the students a different degree of freedom to customize the cube.
Watch the really, really nice documentation movie produced by the students.
Thorsten created a 4-key keyboard that reacted to darkness and produced a classic postpunk sound.
Tim picked up the theme of the season and built a square pumpkin which would react to the slightest tap.
Julius built a slit camera into the cube. via a servo motor in the bottom it enabled the cube to follow a light source.
Frederic created a one-pixel-resolution color scanner. he enabled the cube to scan the color of the surface it would sit on. once connected to a desktop computer the cube would recite all the colors on the screen.
Ben used the cube as an input device for the infamous pong game. By tilting the cube the paddle would travel to either side.
